An Angel

There was an angel up and down flying,
to the calls of the Lord quickly answering:
"Here I am, send me,
because I know, God, Thee!"

The Lord called his servant
to do an urgent task and said:
"Please take care of this orphan child,
who lost his parents."

Immediately the angel started his work,
flew to the east and flew to the west,
but the world was full of orphans!

The angel returned to the Lord complaining:
"My strenght is not very long lasting,
but Thee o Lord I am thanking:
give me millions of assistants,
by one word of Your lips!"

Uttered the Lord heavenly:
"I gave you ONE child, that curly-haired there!
Only for this child take good care,
I'll send to the others angels that are spare."

"Forgive me Lord", the angel asked,
the whole world to be my task I wanted.
Of course I should have been able to know,
that You can't stand a burn-out angels show!

That's why I'll work with this one task,
with this child, till the end it lasts,
with this only treasure."
